Southwestern Electric Power (SWEPCO) representatives plan to strengthen the local electric transmission system in northwest Louisiana by rebuilding a 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. The South Shreveport - Western Electric project involves rebuilding approximately 5 miles of 138-kV transmission line between SWEPCO's South Shreveport and Western Electric substations, as well as upgrading substation equipment.
The transmission line was constructed in 1955 and is past its planned service life. The project:
SWEPCO representatives invite you to attend an in-person open house on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at 201 Southern Hills Park & Community Center (1002 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA 71118). Landowners are welcome to attend the open house to view detailed maps and learn more about the project, construction process and SWEPCO's vegetation management program. There is no formal presentation, so you can arrive at any time during the event.
